A Guide to Using your Tesco Clubcard Points

by Bump, Baby & You

If like me, you love to save money wherever possible, you more than likely already have a Tesco Clubcard.

I’ve had mine for years now – using it every time I shop in store or online. It’s been a great way for me to save money for our Christmas food shopping, especially when we have 17 for Christmas dinner!

It often surprises me when I hear the checkout operator ask if the customer ahead of me has a Clubcard and their reponse is “no”. It’s so easy to do, simply hand over your Clubcard to the checkout operator. To make it even easier  Tesco has recently introduced contactless Clubcards as well as a Clubcard app so you only need to have your mobile phone with you –  a tap is all it takes.

So how does the Tesco Clubcard scheme actually work?

According to the Tesco website, “Clubcard helps you get the most out of Tesco
It’s our way of giving you something back for shopping with us.

You can collect points on food, fuel, fashion and more!

You earn 1 point for every £1 spent in store and online including Tesco Direct, F&F and Tesco Mobile.

Earn 1 point for every £2 spent when filling your car up with fuel – you can even collect points when filling up at Esso.

Earn 1 point per £4 monthly payment with a Tesco mortgage and 2 points for every £1 spent using a Tesco Bank account.

What can you use your points on?

Every 3 months, Tesco will send you a booklet of vouchers based on the number of points you have collected.

Clubcard vouchers

There are two different ways to use them…

  1. Spend as they are – this basically means spending your vouchers in store, online or at the pump. To use them in store all you need to do is present your vouchers to the cashier and to use online simply enter the online code at the checkout. Easy peasy!
  2. Reward Partners – Tesco have teamed up with a large number of brilliant partners who allow you to exchange your points for days out, holidays, eating out and more giving you up to 4x your voucher value! Here are a few ideas of what you could choose…

Colchester Zoo Clubcard Rewards

£7.50 in Clubcard vouchers gets you 1 day entry to Colchester Zoo

West Midland Safari Park Clubcard Reward

£5.50 in Clubcard vouchers gets you 1 day ticket to West Midland Safari Park

Cineworld Clubcard Reward

£4.50 in Clubcard voucher gets you 1 adult Cineworld ticket

As well as days out you can also get money off shopping, Eurotunnel crossings, RAC breakdown cover, restaurant vouchers, railcards and more. You can check out the full range of Reward Partners here.

We asked our followers what they choose to spend their points on, here is what they told us…

We usually use them on food and with the money we saved, we take the children on days out and go to attractions. When I was pregnant, we got our points just before black Friday, so spent them on an artificial Christmas tree, a few decorations and the Christmas turkey! Think we saved £105 because of the massive black Friday deals too. Alicia Humphrey

I save mine for Christmas then buy my pressies with them! I bought loads of princess dresses for Darcey last year. I try & get my fuel from Tesco which adds to the points. Jude Lemon

I used mine just before Christmas to buy my daughter an ipod touch and recently got my hubby a drill for father’s day. Laura Kemp

I usually put them towards a holiday or a weekend break somewhere. Depends on how much we get. I currently have over £130 to spend but leave them as there’s absolutely no rush to spend them. I went to Turkey and the Cotswolds! Leanne Beazeley

School uniform! Tesco even do the embroidered logo for our school. Nicola Kennedy

I save mine until Christmas then use them to do my January food shop when we don’t have as much money. Anna Louise Scurfield

I spend mine on school uniform. It gets so expensive year on year as they grow. Susan Acton

Whilst we were both studying they were an absolute godsend and saved us from going hungry many a time! Catherine Mottershead

I have recently used mine to buy a family rail card. We used £15 worth of vouchers for a £30 card and then I will get 1/3 off rail fares for 12 months In one trip I saved £40. Joanne Rée

We save ours for the Eurotunnel for our Disneyland Paris holidays. Often saves us the cost of an extra night which means an extra night in Disney! Sarah Wright

Thorpe park tickets! Jess Brown

If you haven’t already got yourself a Clubcard, what are you waiting for? Join here today and start collecting points straight away!
