Children In Need 2017 - Get Involved!

Children in Need 2017 – Get Involved!

Hello to our lovely followers! It’s almost time for Children in Need 2017. Here is our guide on what exactly Children in Need does, and how YOU can get involved in this charitable cause.

What is Children in Need?

Children in Need is a corporate charity belonging to the BBC. They provide grants all over the UK to support projects aimed at disadvantaged children and young people, and make a real difference to their lives through empowerment. They give out small grant awards 4 times a year and main grant awards 3 times a year. If you’re interested in applying for a grant, you can find out more information here.

“BBC Children in Need exists to change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

Our vision is that every child in the UK has a safe, happy and secure childhood and the chance to reach their potential.”

When and where can I watch?

This years annual extravaganza will be aired on BBC one at 19:30pm on Friday the 17th of November. Terry Wogan, the famous face of Children in Need, died last year so this is the first show without him presenting, so be warned that it may be a tad emotional if you’re a regular participant.

Who is Hosting This Year?

None other than the amazing presenter and comic, Graham Norton! You may recognise him from ‘The Graham Norton Show‘.

The lovely Graham Norton.

Children in Need Single 2017

Each year, a single is produced and released in support of Children in Need. The fabulous Katie Melua is the artist on this years track, singing a remake of ‘Fields of Gold’. A minimum of 54 pence of every record sale will go directly to Children in Need.

Dr Who Christmas Special Feature

The show will have a special feature this year; a sneak preview of the Dr Who Christmas special!

“The sneak peek will see the Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi and Nardole, played by Matt Lucas, team up with an investigative reporter played by Charity Wakefield and a masked vigilante played by Justin Chatwin to defend New York from a terrifying alien invasion before the full episode, ‘The Return of Doctor Mysterio’, airs at Christmas.” (BBC)
