Why It's Vital To Close Bedroom Doors At Night

Did you know that closing bedroom doors at night could make the difference between life and death in a fire?

An unnamed firefighter has shared this snippet of advice with the Facebook page of Cold Harbor Fire Department, based in New York, in order to raise awareness and save lives in the case of a house fire.

We didn’t realise just how vital this information is, so PLEASE share it far and wide. It’s life saving.

If your little one struggles to sleep without the door open or ajar and the landing light on, these tips could help;

  • Introduce a nightlight.
  • Use a dream catcher; of course, they’re purely a decorative item with a folklore story behind them, but they could make your little one feel less scared at night.
  • Glow in the dark star stickers on the ceiling have worked really well for us and our son.
  • Add some water to a spray bottle and label it ‘monster spray’. Take your child around their room and tell them to spray where they’ve seen ‘monsters’ to help identify objects causing night anxiety and terrors.
