Mum Left ‘Fuming’ After Party Bag Snub

by Bump, Baby & You

A mum has been left ‘fuming’ by the mother of her daughter’s friend, who returned the party bag that she painstakingly put together, claiming it was ‘too generous’.

The mum of the birthday girl assumed that the goody bags would go down a treat by the guests! However, the mum of one of the girls who attended the party was unimpressed and made her daughter return the bag to her host at school.

When the birthday girl came home from school on the following Monday, she passed on a letter that she had been asked for forward on… along with the goody bag.

“The letter basically says the bag was too generous as a party bag and her daughter was returning it as she (the mum) couldn’t let her accept it,” the mother wrote on her post on Mumsnet.

And to make matters worse…

It turns out that parent who wrote the letter had also allegedly told her daughter that the mum of the birthday girl tries “too hard”, which has rendered the mum of the birthday girl feeling “mortified”, “livid” and her daughter “embarrassed.” How rude!

The snubbed mummy then took to Mumsnet to ask… AIBU?! (Am I being unreasonable?)

The majority of comments on the thread state that they find the actions of the other mum rude – even if the contents of the goody bags were perhaps a tad too much. Personally, I think the other mum was super out of order, and it makes me sad that the guest was made to give up her party bag!
