Primula are recalling ALL of their tubes of cheese due to a possible risk of food poisoning.
Primula have issued a statement on the recall which reads:
“We are aware of a potential source of food poisoning found in a limited number of our Primula tube products. This was discovered during routine testing.
Your health and safety is our number one priority and therefore as a precaution we have stopped supplying stores with ALL of our Primula cheese tubes until we can be confident we have resolved this issue.
We would advise you not to eat any Primula tubes you may have in your fridge at home and instead return them to the place you bought them for a full refund.
We’re really sorry about this, but we hope you can appreciate that we have taken this precautionary decision on all of our products to ensure your safety. Please bear with us while we work hard to get your favourite cheese back on the shelves.”
You can see the official recall notice HERE.
Primula also issued a statement on their website which said:
“We are aware of a potential source of Clostridium botulinum found in one of our Primula Cheese tube products.
Our customer’s health and safety is our number one priority and therefore, as a precaution, we have stopped all product distribution. We are also contacting retailers to instruct them to remove all Primula tubes from shelves with immediate effect. Customers are advised not to eat any Primula Cheese tubes they have already purchased but instead to return these to stores in exchange for a full refund (we appreciate you may not have a receipt) .
We are liaising with Environmental Health and the Food Standards Agency.
We would like to reassure customers that instances like this are extremely rare. We would also like to apologise to those who won’t be able to get their hands on our cheese for a short period of time while we work hard to resolve the issue.”
So, make sure you check your cupboards/fridge and return your Primula squeezy cheese as soon as you can.
Stay safe, everyone!
