Daddies Now Spend 3 Times More Time With Kids Than Past Generations!

Research has shown that daddies now spend 3 times as much time with their children as daddies did two generations ago!

Parenthood has changed so much over the past few generations, it’s undeniable. The world around us has changed so much, even from one generation to another, and one huge element in this is that fathers want to be more involved in the upbringing of their child than ever before. Attitudes towards gender stereotypes have changed drastically; the notion that the mum is the primary caregiver and that a dad should take a backseat has become increasingly rejected! Equal parenthood is now the norm, and we think it’s fabulous.

Research has shown that the beliefs and principles of daddies have changed a lot.

Numerous studies have shown that the ‘millennial’ dad stands for equality in parenting, much more so than his forefathers, and actively seek to split parenting duties equally. This study is a great example! This study here also shows that daddies these days spend 3o more minutes on housework than their own fathers – that’s great news and certainly shows progress towards a more egalitarian approach to family duties.

This progress is also great for relationships…

This research indicates that equal parenting has benefits not only for children, but also for the relationship of the parents in the family unit! We can certainly understand this; it can be frustrating and overwhelming if you are given the lions share of the duties, and this frustration can absolutely impact the mood of a parent, leading to tension and arguments. Doing your bit to spread the load can make so much difference!

We’re so glad to see that parenting is becoming more and more of an equal commitment, and can’t wait to see how things continue to change for generations to come!
