The Ultimate Festive Escape: A Guide to the Alton Towers Santa Sleepover

If you are anything like me, the lead-up to Christmas can feel like one giant to-do list. Between the school plays and the endless shopping, I’m always looking for one thing that makes the season feel special without me having to coordinate every single second of it.

We looked into the Santa Sleepover at Alton Towers, and honestly, it is a bit of a dream for parents. It’s basically a festive holiday in a box where they handle the food, the rooms, and the "big" Santa visit all in one go.

What do you actually get?

The package is pretty packed, so you definitely get your money's worth for a two-day trip. Here is the breakdown:

  • The Big Santa Visit: This is the highlight. You head to a little log cabin in Mistletoe Lane for a private meeting with Santa. The kids get a proper gift to take home, which saves you a trip to a crowded shopping centre grotto.

  • The Rides: The massive rollercoasters are closed, which is fine by me because I’m not about to do Nemesis in a scarf. Instead, CBeebies Land and Mutiny Bay are open, so it’s much more relaxed and geared toward the kids.

  • A Panto: You get tickets to a live show. For 2025, it’s Cinderella. It’s a great way to sit down, rest your feet, and keep the kids entertained for an hour.

  • The Waterpark: This is usually saved for the second day. It’s tropical and warm inside, which feels amazing when it’s freezing outside.

  • Food is Sorted: You get a festive dinner and a massive breakfast the next morning. Not having to think about where to eat or doing the washing up is the best gift of all.

Which hotel should you pick?

We’ve looked at the options and they all have a different vibe:

  • CBeebies Land Hotel: If you have toddlers who are obsessed with Bluey or The Octonauts, this is the one. It’s noisy, colourful, and they will love it.

  • Enchanted Village: These are little woodland lodges. They are so cozy and quiet, perfect if you want to feel like you’re in a Christmas movie.

  • Alton Towers Hotel: A bit more traditional and quirky. Great if you want to be right in the middle of the festive atmosphere.

A few "Mum Tips" for the trip

  • Go late to the Grotto: Try to book your Santa slot for later in the day. Once the sun goes down and the Christmas Market lights up, it feels so much more magical.

  • The "Secret" Walkway: If the British weather does its thing and starts pouring, there is a covered path between the Alton Towers Hotel and Splash Landings. Use it to stay dry!

  • Download the App: Use the official app to check the showtimes for the Sprout That Saved Christmas show so you don't miss out.

  • Swimwear is a must: Even if you think you won't want to swim in December, the kids will see the slides and beg to go. Pack the trunks just in case.

The verdict

It runs on select dates through November and December, ending on the 23rd. Prices usually work out between £90 and £120 per person, which isn't bad considering it covers your room, two days of activities, and two meals.

If you want to skip the holiday stress and just enjoy the magic for once, this is a brilliant way to do it.
