Everything You Need to Know: Minecraft Meet the Mobs Coming to Alton Towers Resort

If your household has been living and breathing Minecraft on repeat, get ready, because the wait is finally over. Alton Towers Resort has confirmed that Minecraft Meet the Mobs, a brand-new pop-up event, is landing in the park for a six-week run this summer, from Saturday 18th July to Friday 28th August 2026.

It's the first event of its kind in the UK, bringing the world of Minecraft to life across six themed scenes dotted around the park. As a mum who has sat through more Minecraft YouTube videos than I care to admit, I can tell you this one is going straight to the top of the summer holidays list, no arguments needed.

What's New at the Park?

The event is built around a trail of "baby Mobs", the smaller, softer versions of the creatures every Minecraft fan will recognise, hidden in six Minecraft-inspired scenes across the resort. Basically, a scavenger hunt for the whole family, and I am here for anything that keeps little legs walking without a meltdown. Here's what you can expect:

  • Mob Meet-and-Greets: Get up close with official costume characters Iron Golem, Chicken Jockey and Creeper, plus a cast of puppets including baby pandas, wolf pups, goats, chicks, pigs and yellow axolotls. Cue about a hundred photos on my phone.
  • The Meet the Mobs Trail: Stamp your game card at each of the six scenes around the park to complete the trail, a lovely little job to hand to the kids while you get five minutes to yourself.
  • Exclusive In-Game Reward: Finish the trail and you'll unlock a free digital reward for the Minecraft game, available only to guests who complete it at Alton Towers. Bribery, but the wholesome kind.
  • Minecraft-Themed Treats: Look out for snack stands serving TNT popcorn and Minecraft-inspired ice lollies, perfect for the inevitable "I'm hungry" five minutes after lunch.
  • Exclusive Merchandise: New Minecraft merchandise will be available throughout the event, so budget for a keepsake or two (or brace yourself for the negotiation if you don't).

Do You Need a Separate Ticket?

No, and honestly, this is the bit that made me love it even more. Minecraft Meet the Mobs is included with standard park admission, so there's no sneaky extra cost to factor in on top of your day ticket, one less thing to budget for. Pre-booked tickets currently start from around £37, and booking ahead online is always cheaper than paying on the gate.

Planning Your Visit

This only runs for six weeks over the school summer holidays, so let's be honest, it's going to get busy, especially atweekends. A few mum-tested tips before you plan your trip:

  • Book ahead: Pre-booking online secures your date and is typically the cheaper option versus turning up on the day, and one less thing to stress about on the morning.
  • Go early or go midweek: If you can swing a weekday off school, or you're up and out for park opening, you'll likely beat the queues for both the Mob trail and the big rides. Early starts are rarely fun with kids, but this one's worth it.
  • Bring the trail card home: The game card is a lovely little souvenir even before you factor in the digital reward, worth holding onto for younger Minecraft fans (and for you, when you inevitably find it in a coat pocket in September).
  • Pair it with the rest of the park: This is an add-on to a full day at Alton Towers, so you've still got every ride and attraction to enjoy alongside the Minecraft trail. Pace yourselves, mums, it's a long one.
