Baby & Child Product Recalls

As parents, the safety of our children is always at the forefront of our minds.

Occasionally, a product we've purchased in good faith will turn out to have been defective or unsafe in some way. In these cases, a product recall notice is usually posted by the the Gov.uk website, and if it's a voluntary recall, the retailer and manufacturers of the product that has been recalled.

However, as we're sure you'll agree, parent life is hectic and it can be easy to miss these recall alerts. This is where we're stepping in with our handy list of relevant product and food recalls! We'll continue to keep our eyes peeled and update this with relevant recall notices.

Current product recall alerts:

Smyths Toys’ jumping ball toy (2303-0054)

Description of product: A jumping ball toy with a hard plastic board.

Brand: Smyths

Batch number:  202009, 202109, 202110, 202112, 202204, 202205, 202207 and 202209.

Reason for recall: The Gov.uk site says; "The product has been recalled because it presents a chemical risk as the maximum permitted concentration of the plasticiser DIBP (Diisobutyl phthalate) is significantly exceeded. DIBP may harm children’s health, as it may have effects toxic to reproduction. The product does not comply with the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 (Consumer Protection Act 1987)."

Action to take: Smyths ask that this is put out of the reach of children and returned to your nearest store for a refund.

Winnie the Pooh Sleeping Bags sold by John Lewis (2303-0031)

Description of product: White ‘Exploring’ sleeping bag with Winnie the Pooh characters all over and a 2-pack of white ‘Friends Forever’ sleeping bags; one sleeping bag with a single green Winnie the Pooh; and one sleeping bag with green Winnie the Pooh characters all over. All sold in sizes 0-6 months and 6-12 months.

Brand: Disney

Batch number: 33030501, 33030502, 33030510, 33030511

Reason for recall: John Lewis say that they are recalling the above product as there is a risk that the poppers can become unsecure and detach, posing a potential choking hazard.

Action to take: John Lewis ask that you stop using this immediately and take it to your closest John Lewis for a full refund.
