Kanye West Donates George Floyd’s Daughters College Fund

by kloeforster

Kanye West has set up a fund to cover the cost of university for George Floyd’s six-year-old daughter Gianna.

George Floyd died last Monday at the hands of four Minneapolis Police officers. Police officer, Derek Chauvin, was seen during the arrest kneeling on Floyd’s neck for nearly 9 minutes.

Protests have since broken out across the USA over Floyd’s death last week. The atrocious event has sparked both national and global outcry.

Floyd’s daughter Gianna was recently pictured on her uncle’s shoulders saying: ‘Daddy changed the world.’

Her mother, Roxie Washington, said she told her daughter Gianna that her father died because he couldn’t breathe.

Kanye has also donated £1.5 million ($2m) to other causes, including paying the legal fees of Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, who were killed in 2020.

Ahmaud Arbery was shot and killed in Georgia whilst out jogging.

Breonna Taylor was an emergency medical technician and was killed in her own home in Louisville in March.

A representative for Kanye West confirmed the donations to American news organisations.

They also said that the rapper and fashion designer had donated to several black-owned businesses in America.

Kanye was seen in his hometown of Chicago on Thursday as he joined school students at a protest.

We think Kanye deserves a massive pat on the back for this incredible donation – what a legend.

There is an official Go Fund Me in Gianna Floyd’s name here.

Roxie is quoted on the Go Fund Me page as saying “Our hearts are overwhelmed with gratitude and we ask that you think of Gianna and the rest of our family as we suffer through this great loss.”

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Floyd family at this time.
