Paris Hilton Undergoing IVF – allowing her to ‘pick’ Boy & Girl Twins

by Kloe Forster

Billionaire heiress Paris Hilton, 39, has spoken out about her decision to have IVF with her boyfriend Carter Reum.

Whilst appearing on podcast The Trend Reporter with Mara, Paris openly revealed that she is hoping to start a family and she and her partner have already began their IVF journey.

Paris, who turns 40 next month, said that her partner who is “her dream guy” has been “so supportive,” went on to discuss why they’ve decided to use IVF. Hilton believes that “having a family and having children is the meaning of life.”

She said: “We have been doing the IVF, so I can pick twins if I like,” and went on to say that she found out about that option from her close celebrity friend, Kim Kardashian, who welcomed two of her children via a surrogate. “I’m happy that she told me that advice and introduced me to her doctor,” Hilton said.

Hilton has already undergone the gruelling egg retrieval process saying: “It was tough, but I knew it would be worth it… I did it a couple of times. Just doing it together and having a partner that is just so supportive and always makes me feel just like a princess all the time … that it wasn’t that bad.”

Paris said: “I think it’s something most women should do, just to have, and then you can pick if you want boys or girls – just because I really want to have twins that are a boy and a girl. So, um, the only way to 100% get that is by making it happen that way.”

She added: “I’m really excited just to move on for the next step of my life and finally just have a real life. Because I really do believe that having a family and having children is the meaning of life. And I haven’t got to experience that yet, because I didn’t feel like anybody deserved that love from me, and now I finally found the person who does.”

We’re so excited to see how your journey towards a beautiful family goes Paris – we wish you luck and success with your treatment.

What is ‘gender selection’ – how does it work?

Gender selection is not actually legal in the UK. It can be done as part of a medical procedure called Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD).

The process involves screening which allows IVF embryos to be tested for gender-related genetic conditions, before being put into the womb.

The nature of the test is to ensure only the healthiest embryos are implanted into the mum’s womb.

Normally the process is used for women who have had multiple miscarriages, failed past IVF cycles or are over the age of 35.

If the test reveals there are healthy embryos of both genders – parents can, in theory, pick which gender they would prefer.

You can read more about Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis from the HFEA HERE.
