Today’s a big day for Captain Tom Moore.
He’s officially turned 100 years old and following an approval from Her Majesty The Queen he has now made him an honorary Colonel!
Tom has been appointed as the first Honorary Colonel of the Army Foundation College Harrogate. The British Army Tweeted today that “His mature wisdom, no-nonsense attitude and humour in adversity make him an inspirational role model to generations young and old.” We couldn’t agree more!
To make his big birthday extra special – Colonel Tom’s Just Giving page has now exceeded £31 million in donations! You can see his Just Giving page HERE.
Tom shared his thoughts on turning 100 this morning with BBC Breakfast.
He said “I’ve never been 10 before, so I really can’t tell you what difference it is from yesterday to today or maybe tomorrow.
But I must say I’m absolutely delighted with all the people like you, who’ve come to wish me a many happy birthday.
It really is absolutely awesome – the amount of people who’ve been so kind to make those remarks.
Thank you all very much.”
“I’ve never been 100 before”
