We were over the moon for Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank who announced the arrival of their first baby, a little boy last week.
We’ve been patiently waiting for the new royal arrival’s name to be announced and yesterday Eugenie shared the name of her son to the world.
We think it’s lovely that she chose to name her new little boy after his grandparents too.
Eugenie shared in her instagram stories: “On his grandfather’s birthday weekend, thinking of my grandfather, we are introducing our little boy. He is named after his great grandfather and both of his great x5 grandfathers.”
It is thought the couple picked the name August after Queen Victoria’s consort Prince Albert, whose middle name was Augustus, while Hawke is a Brooksbank family name.
Philip is a tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh.
She posted three gorgeous photographs, (which were taken by her midwife) on her instagram which she captioned:
We wanted to introduce you to August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.. 💙💙💙
Thank you for so many wonderful messages. Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can’t express. We are excited to be able to share these photos with you.

August was born on February 9th at Portland Hospital. He is the queen and the Duke of Edinburgh’s ninth great-grandchild.
There will be another two additions to the royal family later this year with Zara and Mike Tindall expecting their third arrival and Prince Harry and Meghan announcing their second baby is on the way too.
Congratulations again to Eugenie and Jack – wishing you a lifetime of happiness with your son, August.
