Why You Should Always Use The Correct Filter For Perfect Prep Machine

This is a topic that we’ve seen pop up a lot in parenting groups, our own included; the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep Machine, raved about by parents everywhere, requires a filter.

The specific filter Tommee Tippee produces is considered a bit costly by some parents, especially considering the fact that it needs changing every three months. However, the filter is designed in a very specific way, which is why it isn’t as cheap as standard water filters you’d be able to cheaply purchase for water jugs.

Lack of understanding of the risks, and how the Tommee Tippee filters actually work, has actually led to some parents to use cheap generic filters instead and even advise other parents to do the same – this really isn’t advisable or safe.

Why shouldn’t I use a normal water filter in my Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep Machine?

  • Standard water filters don’t have the same multi layer technology as the Tommee Tippee filters.
  • They’re not designed for or tested for making potable water for infants.
  • They’re not designed for or tested for use with the Perfect Prep Machine – we’ve been told that if your machine breaks when using a generic filter, you risk voiding your warranty.
  • This means that they won’t make tap water potable for tiny tummies in the same way that the Tommee Tippee filter is designed to.

Perfect Prep Filters

It is really important that you use a Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep Filter with your Perfect Prep machine. Most standard water filters don't include an anti-bacterial filtration membrane so will not remove bacteria and therefore will not work correctly. Watch the video to see how it works! Noticed the Perfect Prep filter packaging has changed slightly? Don’t worry – the filter functionality is still the same and will fit both Perfect Prep Original AND Perfect Prep Day & Night. You can find out where to purchase a Perfect Prep filter here : https://www.tommeetippee.co.uk/product/perfect-prep-replacement-filter

Even if you’ve done this and had no problems, that doesn’t mean that it’s safe to continue doing this as the risk of your little one becoming poorly is increased, so please consider paying a few extra pound for the correct filter.
